Education, Gahanna, and giving back to the community are elements in my DNA. I want to be part of this future.
The pandemic has been hard with loss impacting so many of us (loss of loved ones, loss of job, loss of life moments, loss of life as we knew it) and we are all in recovery. A well-being focus will be important as we move into the years ahead. Continued support of mental health programs are critical and my experience at OhioHealth working alongside our Well-Being Team and mental health experts provides me with a background to share best practices and learnings.
Our amazing community has diverse perspectives, values and needs. I am a natural problem solver and communicator with experience bringing people together with diverse backgrounds to form solutions and find common ground. There is a lot of transparent district communication available but not everyone is engaging and seeing it. We need to conduct a root cause analysis of the disconnect and assess new communication channels that increase dialogue. Three years ago I had a positive experience bringing forward a concern at the Student Learning and Achievement committee. I felt heard and gained deeper understanding.
Now I want to continue to support those committees and partner to evolve them.
Our students learn in different ways and we have the ability to continue to evolve our programming with the expansions at our schools and the building of the new high school. New learning environments provide the opportunity to increase connection with different learning styles, create further exploration of career paths, including opportunities in the trades, while also equipping students for success in life after high school.
Community member, parent, and business professional.
